PAULA FITZSIMONS

Paula Fitzsimons is an Irish Visual Artist utilizing live performance art, photography, moving image, sound, text and expanded drawing technique to make time based works of art. Fitzsimons works in direct response to aspects of cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on women’s experiences and the living landscape. She is interested in bringing the audience close on a shared journey of ‘making’ to realise works that are transient and experiential. Informed by movements such as FLUXUS, GUTAI and ARTE POVERA, she has developed a process of listening closely, a conceptual framework as a contemporary mode of concrete poetry; in a world of things, to convene and orchestrate a weave of material crisis as an art practice without edges. Over the past twenty-five years Fitzsimons has exhibited works in Ireland, Britain, Austria, Italy, France, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Japan, South Korea and Dubai.
